The Cedar — Thick Handmade Leather Belt 1.1"
The Cedar is cut from a single 5mm piece of full-grain leather — thicker than our standard cut — and finished with a solid brass single-prong buckle that unscrews when you need the included punch tool. Its 1.1-inch width and extra heft help it hold its shape through years of daily wear.
Specs
- Material: Full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather (single piece, 5mm thick, handmade)
- Width: 1.1" (2.8cm)
- Buckle: Solid brass, single-prong, removable (screw-fastened, not riveted)

Why It's Built to Last
- Single 5mm-thick piece of vegetable-tanned leather, thicker than our standard cut — no bonded layers to peel or delaminate
- Solid brass single-prong buckle is screw-fastened, not riveted — replaceable if it ever wears out
- Ships with a punch tool so the fit can be adjusted whenever it's needed
- The extra thickness resists stretching and sagging better than a thinner strap over years of wear
Built For
Belt loops that can take a little extra heft — jeans, workwear, or anywhere durability matters as much as looks.
Full-Grain Leather vs. Other "Leather" Belts
| Saddlebelt Full-Grain | Other "Leather" Belts | |
|---|---|---|
| Grain Strength | ✓ Single piece, full-grain hide | Bonded scraps, reduced fiber strength |
| Patina Over Time | ✓ Develops a rich patina with wear | Coating cracks or peels instead |
| Withstands Daily Wear | ✓ No peeling, cracking, or delamination | Often fails within months |
| Buckle | ✓ Solid brass, screw-fastened & replaceable | Riveted, can't be replaced if it fails |
| Price | ✓ Costs less over time than replacing a cheap belt every year | Cheap up front, but you'll buy it again and again |
Sizing — Please Read Before Ordering
This belt is sold by waist range, not a single fixed length — each size covers a 2-inch span (for example, size 33"-34" fits waists measuring 33 to 34 inches). Every belt ships with a punch tool, so you can trim the tip and add a new hole to fine-tune the fit within your range.
Available in Waist 27"-28" through 39"-40". For general belt-sizing help (measuring an existing belt, jeans-size conversion), see our Belt Sizing Guide — note that this product uses the waist-range system above rather than the fixed-length method described there.
How to Adjust Your Belt Length
Because The Cedar runs a bit thicker than our standard belts, give yourself a couple of extra minutes when trimming it down — the punch tool still does the job the same way.
- Remove the screw and take off the buckle.
- Slide off the tip keeper loop to expose the leather underneath.
- Cut off the excess length from the tip end.
- Use the punch tool to add a new hole where needed.
- Reattach the buckle with the screw and tighten — done.
Care Instructions
- After wear, a soft dry cloth is enough to clear off dust and surface oils.
- Every 2 to 3 months, massage in a small amount of natural leather balm and buff off any excess once it's absorbed.
- If it's been out in the rain, blot it dry and let it air out away from direct heat.
- Because this belt is thicker than most, expect it to take slightly longer to fully break in — the patina and softness develop the same way, just at a steadier pace.
