The Regulator — Embossed Leather Plaque Buckle Belt 1.3"
The Regulator carries its detail in two places, not one. A scrollwork pattern is worked into the leather near the keeper loop, and the oval brass-framed buckle has a leather insert embossed with its own butterfly motif — two separate details on a single 4.5mm strap, the thickest leather in this part of the lineup.
The buckle is removable, and both patterns are embossed into real leather rather than printed on top, so neither one fades or wears away on its own schedule.
More going on than a plain strap, without turning into two competing patterns.

- Leather pattern is embossed into the hide itself, not printed on — won't crack or fade unevenly

Built For
Anyone who wants a belt with real detail from strap to buckle — dress it up with chinos or dark denim where the extra texture reads as intentional, not busy.
Full-Grain Leather vs. Other "Leather" Belts
| Saddlebelt Full-Grain | Other "Leather" Belts | |
|---|---|---|
| Grain Strength | ✓ Single piece, full-grain hide | Bonded scraps, reduced fiber strength |
| Pattern Durability | ✓ Embossed leather on both strap and buckle plaque, holds its detail | Printed or plated finish that fades or wears smooth |
| Withstands Daily Wear | ✓ No peeling, cracking, or delamination | Often fails within months |
| Buckle | ✓ Brass-framed, leather-inset plaque, removable | Riveted, can't be replaced if it fails |
| Price | ✓ Costs less over time than replacing a cheap belt every year | Cheap up front, but you'll buy it again and again |
Sizing — Please Read Before Ordering
This belt is sold by waist range, not a single fixed length — each size covers a 2-inch span (for example, size 33"-34" fits waists measuring 33 to 34 inches). Every belt ships with a punch tool, so you can trim the tip and add a new hole to fine-tune the fit within your range. The 4.5mm leather runs slightly stiffer than our standard belts until it breaks in.
For general belt-sizing help (measuring an existing belt, jeans-size conversion), see our Belt Sizing Guide — note that this product uses the waist-range system above rather than the fixed-length method described there.
How to Adjust Your Belt Length
Each belt comes with a punch tool, so you can easily remove the buckle and adjust the length to fit your waist perfectly.
- Remove the screw and take off the buckle.
- Slide off the tip keeper loop to expose the leather underneath.
- Cut off the excess length from the tip end.
- Use the punch tool to add a new hole where needed.
- Reattach the buckle with the screw and tighten — done.
Care Instructions
- Wipe down the leather with a soft, dry cloth after each wear, including the embossed section near the loop; use a dry cloth on the leather buckle plaque as well, working gently around the embossed grooves.
- Every 2 to 3 months, work in a small amount of natural leather balm with a clean, soft cloth, let it absorb for a few minutes, then buff off any excess.
- If the belt gets wet, blot it dry and let it air-dry away from direct heat — never use a hairdryer or radiator, which can shrink the leather.
- Some color variation and darkening over time is normal — full-grain leather is meant to develop a patina, not stay showroom-new.
