Double rows of stitching trace both edges of The Fern, adding texture and a bit of reinforcement beyond the single line most belts use. It's cut from one 4mm piece of full-grain leather at 0.91 inches wide, finished with a brass buckle that unscrews if you need the included punch tool.

Specs

  • Material: Full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather (single piece, 4mm thick, double-stitched edges)
  • Width: 0.91" (2.3cm)
  • Buckle: Solid brass, removable (screw-fastened, not riveted)
  • Includes: Punch tool for custom hole adjustment

Why It's Built to Last

  • Single 4mm-thick piece of vegetable-tanned leather — no bonded layers to peel or delaminate
  • Double-stitched edges hold up where a single line of thread would eventually give out
  • Solid brass buckle is screw-fastened, not riveted — replaceable if it ever wears out
  • Ships with a punch tool, so your fit stays precise well past the first wear

Built For

Jeans, chinos, or everyday trousers — the stitched edge gives it a slightly dressier look than a plain strap, without losing the casual feel.

Full-Grain Leather vs. Other "Leather" Belts
Saddlebelt Full-Grain Other "Leather" Belts
Grain Strength ✓ Single piece, full-grain hide Bonded scraps, reduced fiber strength
Patina Over Time ✓ Develops a rich patina with wear Coating cracks or peels instead
Withstands Daily Wear ✓ No peeling, cracking, or delamination Often fails within months
Buckle ✓ Solid brass, screw-fastened & replaceable Riveted, can't be replaced if it fails
Price ✓ Costs less over time than replacing a cheap belt every year Cheap up front, but you'll buy it again and again
Sizing — Please Read Before Ordering

This belt is sold by waist range, not a single fixed length — each size covers a 2-inch span (for example, size 33"-34" fits waists measuring 33 to 34 inches). Every belt ships with a punch tool, so you can trim the tip and add a new hole to fine-tune the fit within your range.

Belt sizing chart: waist size in inches and centimeters converted to belt size

Available in Waist 27"-28" through 39"-40". For general belt-sizing help (measuring an existing belt, jeans-size conversion), see our Belt Sizing Guide — note that this product uses the waist-range system above rather than the fixed-length method described there.

How to Adjust Your Belt Length

The buckle unscrews in seconds, so trimming The Fern down to your exact waist size takes just a few minutes with the included punch tool.

Step-by-step photos showing how to remove the buckle, trim the belt, punch a new hole, and reattach the buckle
  1. Remove the screw and take off the buckle.
  2. Slide off the tip keeper loop to expose the leather underneath.
  3. Cut off the excess length from the tip end.
  4. Use the punch tool to add a new hole where needed.
  5. Reattach the buckle with the screw and tighten — done.
Care Instructions
  • Keep a soft, dry cloth nearby and wipe the belt down after wear to lift off dust and surface oils.
  • Every 2 to 3 months, work a small amount of natural leather balm into the stitched edges as well as the strap, then buff off the excess.
  • If it gets caught in the rain, blot the moisture out and let it dry away from direct heat sources like radiators or hairdryers.
  • The leather will darken and pick up character over time — that's the patina full-grain hide is meant to develop.
